Dana Anderson is the board vice chairman emeritus of the Macerich Board of Directors. An S&P 500 company, Macerich is one of the country's leading owners, operators and developers of major retail real estate. Anderson has been with the company since 1966 and served as chief operating officer and executive vice president during his tenure.

Anderson has contributed to numerous projects at KU, including the Gateway District, the Anderson Family Football Complex, Capitol Federal Hall, and the Wagnon Student Center. Anderson and his wife, Sue, made a $1.4 million gift to support the construction of the School of Business building in 2013.

His investment advisor and friend Wayne Woodman made a gift to the KU School of Business in 2024 to establish the Knock on the Window Award in Anderson’s honor. The award will ensure that KU students who have actively participated in the school’s entrepreneurship-related activities and curriculum have opportunities to continue their entrepreneurial endeavors.

Anderson earned his Bachelor of Science in business from the KU School of Business in 1959 and serves on the school’s Dean’s Advisory Board. He received the Ellsworth Medallion in 1998 for his service to KU, and in 2001, he was honored with the business school’s Distinguished Alumni Award.
