David Murfin is the CEO of Wichita-based Murfin Inc., whose interests include Murfin Drilling Company Inc., which dates back to 1926, and Murphy Tractor and Equipment Company, which is one of the largest John Deere construction dealerships in North America.
He is a former president of Kansas Independent Oil & Gas Association and past chairman of the National Stripper Well Association. In 2016, Murfin was awarded The Jim Edwards Leadership Kansas Alumnus of the Year Award.
Murfin currently serves as the chair of the Kansas Board of Regents, as a member of the KU School of Business Dean’s Advisory Board and as a trustee for the KU Endowment board. In 2012, he was recognized with the KU School of Business Distinguished Alumni Award.
He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1975 with bachelor’s degrees in mechanical engineering and business.
