Donald J. Hall Jr. is the chief executive officer of Hallmark Cards Inc., a Kansas City-based company known throughout the world for its greeting cards and personal expression products, as well as Crown Media Family Networks original productions and Crayola LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hallmark.
He is the third generation of the Hall family to lead this privately held business, which was founded in 1910 by his grandfather, J.C. Hall. Don joined the company in 1971, working in multiple areas of the business — from manufacturing and sales, to product development and creative — before taking over the company’s top position in 2002. He also is vice chairman of the Hallmark board of directors and serves on the boards of directors for Crown Media Holdings Inc. and Hallmark International.
Hall is active in the Kansas City community as a member of the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art Board of Trustees, MRIGlobal Board of Trustees, University of Kansas School of Business Dean’s Advisory Board and the Kansas City Civic Council.
He also serves on the board of the Hall Family Foundation, which made a $2.5 million gift toward the construction of Capitol Federal Hall.
Hall earned his MBA from the University of Kansas School of Business in 1983. In 2014, he was honored with the business school’s Distinguished Alumni Award.
