Bill Taylor has 35 years of experience in public accounting, principally in the financial services industry (FSI), serving clients such as Security Benefit Life, Kansas City Life, Businessmen’s
Assurance, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City, Employers Reinsurance, Security Mutual Funds and Buffalo Mutual Funds. He has served as audit department director, area director of FSI Practice Development and in various other operational capacities. He retired in 2003 as a partner in Ernst & Young LLP.
Taylor was a co-founder of the Ernst & Young Center for Audit Research and Technology at KU. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountant, and was a co-owner and director of a community bank in Humboldt, Kansas.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration and a Master of Accounting from the KU School of Business. In 2009, he was presented with the business school’s Distinguished Alumni Award.
Taylor and his wife, Marilyn, have advocated for education by creating and supporting numerous scholarships for young women in middle and high school to develop talent and confidence, and for college students who are multicultural scholars in business or human development/family life, students in English as a second language, and students who study abroad.
