Michael Ettredge is a professor emeritus of accounting at the KU School of Business. He received his bachelor's degree from Rice University in 1971, his Master of Public Administration from Brigham Young University in 1978, and his doctoral degree in accounting from the University of Texas in 1982.

Ettredge was appointed as the school’s Crown/Sherr Distinguished Professor in fall 2018 and worked closely with accounting doctoral students. He has authored more than 50 articles, and his research has been published in top academic journals. Ettredge has served as an editor of top accounting journal The Accounting Review and has nearly 5,000 citations to his work, which has focused largely on audit services.

Ettredge retired at the end of the spring 2020 semester.
