John B. Dicus is chairman, president and CEO of Capitol Federal Savings Bank. He has been with the company since 1985, when he started as a bank officer, working his way through the ranks to president and COO in 1996.
In 1983, he received a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Kansas and went on to earn an MBA from KU in 1984. He served on the KU Alumni Association’s national board of directors from 1996 to 2001. Dicus is an active member of his community, serving as director and trustee for a variety of organizations, such as Stormont Vail Healthcare, Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Greater Topeka, Capitol Federal Foundation, Washburn University Foundation and KU Endowment Association.
In October 2012, the Capitol Federal Foundation pledged a $20 million lead gift for the construction of Capitol Federal Hall, and in 2014, Dicus received the KU School of Business Distinguished Alumni Award. The KU Alumni Association named Dicus as one of its 2017 Fred Ellsworth Medallion recipients.
The Dicus family has deep ties to KU and a long tradition of service to the university. His father, John C. “Jack” Dicus, chairman emeritus of Capitol Federal Savings, earned a bachelor's degree in business from KU in 1955 and received the Fred Ellsworth Medallion in 1990. His grandfather, Henry Bubb, a 1928 KU graduate, received the Ellsworth Medallion in 1977. Other KU alumni in the Dicus family include the late Betty Bubb Dicus, Debra Dicus Kennedy, and Brenda Roskens Dicus.
