George Bittlingmayer

George Bittlingmayer is a distinguished professor emeritus of finance at the University of Kansas School of Business. Bittlingmayer attended Lehigh University, where he received bachelor’s degrees in economics and German in 1975. He then attended the University of Chicago, where he earned his master’s degree in economics in 1977 and his doctoral degree in economics in 1981.

Bittlingmayer began his teaching career at the University of California, Davis in 1988. In 2004, Bittlingmayer was named the founding co-director for the Center for Research in Entrepreneurial Activity at KU. His research has focused on the effect of public policies on financial markets, investment by business, and mergers and acquisitions. He retired from the university at the end of the 2016-17 academic year.
